There’s so much that we cannot control. There’s so much we don’t have figured out. We stress over every little thing wrong and we turn to vices as opposed to connection. So what does exposure do for us?
For me, it’s always been sort of a catalyst for an open mind. If you are lucky enough to travel what I’ve been able to realize is that it allows for perspective to flow through your veins.
You become exposed to different ideas, ways of thinking and most importantly a shift in culture. What happens when you’ve experienced more than someone else?
You have knowledge that others do not. You become a real canvas within your own self mixed with beautiful trials. It all allows for more in depth analysis of not just who you are, but what you honestly hold true as far as values go.
From the moment we are born we are constantly bombarded with different views in different things and if we do not expose ourselves to different ways of doing things, then 2+2 will always equal 4.
What if that’s the only math problem you knew?.. Then someone comes along and tells you that 1+3 also equals 4 and it totally throws you off…
However, what if you knew how to reach 4 using different methods?… For example 2×2=4, 8÷2=4. That’s what happens with exposure. We figure out different ways of reaching our 4, or whatever it is you’re trying to reach.
There’s always more than one way of doing things and there is always more than meets the eye. But if we haven’t even expanded our ways of thinking to accommodate by providing first hand exposure well then it sort of leaves us in the dark. Then we get stuck thinking what we have is what we have, and that is what is breeding grounds for a fixed mindset.
What else happens with exposure is we also become more open with what we know to be acceptable. There are some places in Peru where they eat Guinea pigs like a corn dog. How crazy is that?.. Or how about an ice hotel in Alaska?.. Or how about even staying in a tent like room alongside a steep mountain?
There’s so many things to see, and so many different ways of life to experience. So if we are stuck within our own little cocoons then how will we ever break free of the stories and problems we give ourselves?
It’s all self inflicted but one thing I know for sure is upon doing minor travels to maybe less than a handful of places I’ve only experienced these ideas through others. Talking with people and enveloping myself into conversations of their stories. When you can stop and observe presently everything going on and give into that, that’s what will make for more adventure! In addition to that you will be receiving more of an abundance because you will have created your own little system based off of what you believe to be true from others. It’s such a beautiful thing.
Please, don’t go by any means read this and go streaking. Instead, talk with people, meet people, and give into certain uncomfortable situations to really stretch and grow your perspective.
